SELJUK CARPETS

Following room of the museum houses the oldest Turkish rugs discovered in Turkey. Found in the Aladdin mosque in the 19th century by Mr. Lyhothed, these fascinating rugs are dated to 13th century, time of Seljuk ruler Aladdin Keykubad. Woven in Konya or Aksaray, these rugs are considered the oldest and finest examples of Turkish Art.
