| Gördes Because of their elegance Gordes carpets were very much demanded in the western world. when the symmetrical knot used by the Turkish weavers is known as Gordes knot. Gordes is also famous because of its praying niche patterns. They are easily recognisable because of multiple borders which reduses the size of the niche in the center. Gordes niche is recognised with reversed V type at the upper part of the niche and square shoulders and line of flowers mainly carnations running along the edges. Above and below the niche there are cloud band patterns and sylised flowers. in the 19th century there are also Cubuklu Gordes. Gordes produced in the later periods got the papaers of Mecit Style. Also some late production areas such as bandirma followed the Gordes praying rug designs. |
