Anatolian Rugs

Anatolian rugs are faithfull to traditions and religious patterns and they are distinguished because of their fidelity to ancient designs and lay out. The designs of Turkish carpets are based on repetions of simple and complex geometric patterns. Floral patterns are also highly  stylised and human and animal figures are excluded following the rules of Sunnite Muslims. Colours are lively and strongest tonality of primary colours having also a sharp contrast.  Dominating colours on the Turkish Carpets are reds, blues and yellows. All the Anatolia carpets have symmetrical of Gördes knots except the Hereke Imperial Carpets.

 Ottoman Flowers

Tulips, carnation and are known as Ottoman flowers and widely used in the bordurd and main field. These are followed by roses, pomegranate and imaginary flowers.  Carnation often shown  open or closed form and having frontal or profile viev have always red colour. Carnations mostly appear in the Gordes, Demirci and Kirsehir Carpets. They are arranged in bouquets or as lined along the internal edge of the mihrap. Tulips are used widely on the Ladik Rugs and often mistaken by the westerners as lilies.
