James Mellart And Kilims

Kilim Weaving

In 1980s, James Mellart, famous Bristish archeoligist, discovered mural  paintings in the Neolithic houses. After his studies, Mellart published a book on Goddess from Anatolia where he related the designs of the some wall paintings to old Anatolian kilim designs. This indicated that the designs on the anatolian kilims went back nearly 10.000 years. Mellart ideas were bitterly attcked by the other sholars.
