BERGAMA
Bergama, the hometown of great
number of historical rugs, is located 20 km from the Aegean coastline. It has
been a great center for the geometric patterned rugs from 15th century on. The
carpets known as Transilvanian carpets and dated to 17th and 18 centuries are
thought to have come from Bergama. In our day, Pergamon rugs are examined in
two major categories: Bergama rugs having Turkish designs and Bergamas with
Caucasus patterns.
